FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does an assessment typically take?

On average, a standard learning assessment takes 5-6 hours of face-to-face testing time, which would most often be broken down into at least two sessions. However, the actual time will depend upon the individual, as each person will approach tasks differently, require different amounts of time to process and respond to different activities, and may need need greater or fewer breaks to manage the demands of testing. Additional sessions will be added, as needed.

Are psychological assessments covered by my health insurance plan?

Many benefit plans do provide some coverage for psychological services, which would include consultation and/or assessment. Often, this coverage is provided per person in the family, and so this can result in more coverage for an assessment than may be obvious at first glance. For example, while the assessment sessions themselves would be billed as service to the individual being tested, the initial consultation and final feedback meeting, can typically be billed as service (consultation) to the parent(s) involved in that meeting. It is important to look into your exact coverage as it varies by company/plan.
